Shop Assistant (Part Time)

We are looking for an enthusiastic shop assistant who is able to work on a part time basis at our shop in Crowborough. The job will be quite varied and will involve:

  • Assisting in the shop including liaising with customers and acting on customer queries and requests, processing sales, ordering stock and dealing with deliveries.
  • Helping run the day to day operations of our e-commerce business including using the computer system, packing orders and communicating with customers via phone and email.
  • Contributing to the Bikegoo social media / marketing presence
  • Assisting with basic workshop tasks including cleaning bikes and carrying out some basic maintenance - training can be supplied for this.

Skills required

  • The ideal candidate will be an experienced user of Microsoft Excel and have excellent general computer skills including using social media
  • A good team player and an excellent communicator with the confidence to talk to customers
  • Retail experience ideally within the bike trade would be an advantage but is not essential
  • Interest in mountain bikes and awareness of current trends and new developments within mountain biking
  • Experience of maintaining your own bike and basic knowledge of how the parts of a bike work. The ability to carry out a reasonable level of maintenance on your own bike would be an advantage.

The job can be very flexible for the right candidate. Initially we are looking for someone to work 2-3 days a week ideally across Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Our working hours are normally 9am to 5pm but this can be tailored to you if you have specific hours you can work. The salary is dependent on experience and skill level.

Cycle Mechanic

We are also currently looking for an experienced cycle mechanic to work at our shop in Crowborough. 

Our workshop is the beating heart of Bikegoo and you will be required to service all types of customer bikes, build and PDI new bikes for sale, as well as maintaining our fleet of demo bikes. You will need to be experienced in cycle assembly and repair and be knowledgeable in the use of a range of cycle tools and equipment. Experience working in a professional cycle workshop would be a distinct advantage.

We are mountain bike specialists and experience in suspension servicing, disc brake servicing or full suspension bike maintenance, as well as a passion for all things MTB, would be preferred.

Preferably you will be Cytech qualified, but this is not essential. Additional in-house training will be provided if required.

You will need to be able to work autonomously on servicing work and have a keen attention for detail. Most importantly you will need to be a great communicator and a team player.

You will need to liaise with customers and must be confident speaking face to face or on the phone.

You will need to be computer literate and proficient in using the internet and social media.

The working hours are open to discussion. We can offer both part time and full time options. We will aim to build the job around the right person. The salary will be competitive and dependent on experience.

Any job offer will be dependent on the successful completion of a trial period.
