Apprentice Cycle Mechanic / Shop Assistant

We are looking for a motivated enthusiastic individual to work in our bike shop in Crowborough as an apprentice cycle mechanic / shop assistant. Primarily you will work in our workshop conducting general servicing and repair tasks on all types of customer bicycles. You will also be dealing with customer enquires both face to face and over the phone and assisting with the routine operations of our shop. You may also become involved in the day to day runnning of our online ecommerce page including stock management and processing customer orders. You will be trained on the job by our experienced cycle mechanic and will also be trained to Cytech 2 level at ATG Training.

Experience fixing or maintaining your own bike or family /friends bikes would be preferred. Some knowledge of using tools for basic mechanic tasks would be an advantage. 

We're after a confident person with an eye for detail. You will have a passion for cycling, specifically mountain biking and have a desire to follow a career in the cycle trade. You will have excellent communication skills and be happy working as part of a small team. You need to be happy talking to people aswell as listening to and solving customer queries.

Part Time Mechanic

We are also looking for an experienced cycle mechanic to work for us on a part time basis.

Our workshop is the beating heart of Bikegoo and you will be required to service all types of customer bikes, build and PDI new bikes for sale, as well as maintaining our fleet of demo bikes. You will need to be experienced in cycle assembly and repair and be knowledgeable in the use of a range of cycle tools and equipment.

We are mountain bike specialists and experience in suspension servicing, disc brake servicing or full suspension bike maintenance, as well as a passion for all things MTB, would be a distinct advantage.

Preferably you will be Cytech qualified, but this is not essential. Additional in-house training will be provided.

You will need to be able to work autonomously on servicing work and have a keen attention for detail. Most importantly you will need to be a great communicator and a team player.

You will need to liaise with customers and must be confident speaking face to face or on the phone.

You will need to be computer literate and proficient in using the internet.

In return we will offer a competitive salary and a minimum of 18 hours work per week (including Saturday mornings). This role has the potential to become full time in due course.
